 Chrome Powder Coating, Top Coat

For shops using a chrome powder and are concerned about damage to the coating, we have a product that will help. All chrome powders are subject to both physical and chemical damage. Applying a clear top coat of any nature, including clear powders, will significantly dull the finish. However by adding either an acrylic or polyester based clear powder to L20, available from Tech Line, chrome powders can be coated with only a very, very minimal change in the shine. This protects the finish. In addition it is also possible to apply the CilGen Brilliance special affect coating over this clear coat. By combining Chrome Powder, a Clear in L20 and CilGen; brilliant colors that exceed the shine of colored anodizing can be applied to virtually any part. For a Chrome only finish, a clear in L20 will provide the desired durable finish.

CERMAKROME 375?

Developmental

Tech Line is in development of a new form of CermaKrome. It will full cure at 375F allowing shops that do Powder Coating to cure CermaKrome in their ovens, saving the expense of an oven capable of curing at the normal 500F cure temperature. The new coating will have the same basic properties as standard CermaKrome. However it will be a bit less flexible. In most cases the difference will not be a problem. The cost will be slightly higher than standard CermaKrome so it is not recommended for applicators that have ovens capable of curing the coating at 500F. Test samples of the new material will be sent to select shops for evaluation. It is hoped to have the product on the market by the end of summer.

CilGen Brilliance

For best results and to avoid mottling of the color, spray the first coat of LTC on a surface that is at least 80F. Temperatures up to 100F are no problem. The first coat is critical and this procedure will allow the subsequent coats of the color to flow smoothly and provide an even color to the part.

VIDEOS

Tech Line is filming a series of short Coat -It-Yourself videos. These will be posted on our web site and linked to U-Tube. The first videos will cover the coating of internal engine parts.
