CERMAKROME SALT SPRAY
From Bill Coomer Aesthetic Finishers
Piqua, OH
Bill just sent us a copy of a salt spray test that he had done by
an independent testing laboratory. This was done to ASTM B117 standards.
This test exposes a coated test panel to a 5% salt solution at approximately
a 100F. The salt solution is continuously sprayed at the panel. The
panel has the edges taped and an “X” scratched through the coating
to bare metal. The panel was pulled from the test unit after 5304
hours. This is 221 days of exposure with no break. Cermakrome passed
with flying colors with no corrosion going through the coating nor
any creepage of rust from the unprotected areas. Bill’s comment was
that he felt the panel would rust through from the unprotected areas
long before any corrosion would get through or creep under Cermakrome.
NO other metallic ceramic coating from any other coating applicator
that we are aware of, has gone this long. Cermakrome is still the
BEST metallic ceramic coating on the market today.
STAINLESS BRUSH FOR CERMAKROME
From JCM Coatings House Springs, MO
Charlie wanted us to pass along a tip for polishing Cermakrome in
either tight areas or in small dimples created by rust, that occurred
on used parts, before coating. These are areas that do not polish
while the part is in the vibratory polisher. Charlie has been using
small stainless steel brushes to polish these areas. A very thin brush
will polish the areas between tubes on a header. A small ‘sponge’
shaped brush will get into the dimples and remove the white appearance
of the unpolished areas. A quick buff with polish or a short trip
back to the polisher evens out the appearance.
LEAD FREE SOLDER POT COATING
Siemons Energy & Automation
Johnson City, TN
TLHB has been in test to protect Stainless Steel solder pots against
corrosion and erosion from Lead Free Solder. After continuous immersion
in Lead Free Solder, run continuously at @275C for 3 months, there
was no damage to the pot or to the impellors within the pump. This
is important because the European Union will be requiring a totally
Lead Free system (WEE, ROHS) by July 2006. This is a major issue and
TLHB provides the protection for any part coming in contact with the
solder. Currently there are few solutions other than either using
Titanium or Ceramic Coatings, which are extremely expensive. This
will impact the application of solder world wide.
