From Competition Coatings Lakeland, FL
Bill Gise sent us a picture of His Harley. Originally everything
was powder coated on the bike. Bill found that when sitting in traffic
at Biketoberfesr 2001 in Daytona Fl The oil temp reached 280f !!!
Not a good thing. They had to shut it down and push for a while.
Bill then Tech Line coated everything. This year while sitting in
traffic for nearly 2 hours, during Bike Week, his oil temperature
never got above 180f. Bills comment, " sure made a believer out
of me. Thanks for providing me with such a great product and keep
up the good work". Thanks Bill.
Photo's We are going to see about posting photo's, of vehicles coated
with Tech Line products, such as Bill's Harley. If you have a good
photo please mail it to us. You may also send via email. For best
results, be sure the resolution is 300dpi (ppi) and the photo should
be about 2" by 3" or there a bouts. Photo's of coated parts
are also nice and will be included
Specialty Automotive Magazine
In an article about 'Summer nears Business Heats Up' , the point
was made by one retailer that Import customers are stepping up and
paying a premium for coated headers. If you aren't marketing to the
Import enthusiast consider that they want coated headers. The price
difference they are willing to pay according to the article is about
$200.00 over an uncoated header.
Brand name
In the same magazine it was reported that customers are more inclined
to buy a brand name product. This is one if the reasons why we encourage
each coating company to take advantage of the excellent reputation
our products have developed. By indicating that you use our products
and show our name and trade names, you are able to benefit from this
marketing trend. The article points out that 80% of customers prefer
brand name components. Of course becoming an Approved Applicator helps
even more.
When you only use your company name or your "name" for
the coatings, you miss out on this benefit. It takes time and money,
to create this awareness. Not to mention having a superior product.
Take advantage of this.
Tip On Cermakrome
The May issue of Popular Hot Rodding had an article On exhaust installation.
In a side bar entitled "Tips To Keep Your Exhaust System Looking
Good" The point was made that you should not coat your headers,
if the engine is going to be run on a dyno, wait till after the engine
is off the dyno. The adjustments that may be needed on the dyno can
cause excessive heat. In addition there is no air-flow over the headers
so they can discolor
TOMORROWS TECHNICIAN
An excellent short blurb appeared in this magazine commenting on
how "slick surface coatings are the current technology for bi
metal engines". The reason for recognizing the benefit in applying
coatings to the head/ block interface has to do with the different
expansion rates between the iron and aluminum components. A coating
on either surface will help reduce or eliminate the "shearing"
forces that can damage the seal created by the gasket. Many gaskets
come with a Teflon or Moly coating. However there are many applications
where a gasket is either not available or the proper type for a race
application is not available. The solution, coat the head surface
with one of our Moly coatings to achieve the same gain in "seal".
Approved Applicators
On our web page are listed the Approved Applicators. Not every shop
is on this program, though we welcome enquiries regarding becoming
an Approved Applicator. Many shops have elected not to be on the program.
I just visited one that indicated they do not need the referrals as
they have more work than they can handle right now. For those who
wonder how many companies actually buy from Tech Line Coatings, we
just printed our customer list for our Bank. The list ran nearly 40
pages of single line entries in small type. The market is continuing
to grow and virtually every customer we have spoken to is seeing excellent
business growth. The market is still very untouched even with the
number of manufacturers, Professional Coatings Shops, Engine Builders
and Race Teams that are currently using Tech Line products.
Industrial Coatings
We are currently working on variety of new coatings for industrial
applications. We intend to expand our penetration into this market,
since many of our Performance Coatings are all ready being used. We
have been receiving numerous requests for applications that currently
need thin film, high temperature coatings, and apparently are not
available from traditional industrial coating manufacturers.
