Welcome to Techlines...June 2008 CilGen Carb Coat Tech Line wishes to announce the availability of a new carburetor coating. This is now available in the CilGen system. CilGen Carb Coat imparts a gold tinted finish to any carburetor that was originally treated with a dichromate finish. The depth and uniformity of the gold finish can be varied by the applicator to provide the final appearance desired. Turbo Coating Test From: Bob Schreiber Form and Function Performance, LLC St Paul, MN The following letter was received from Bob. The vehicle was a Dodge Neon. Please also check out the link provided in the letter. It's been a while since we last touched base but I wanted to share a recent test that was conducted by my shop. There was a debate that was going on over the effects of porting and ceramic coating exhaust manifolds and turbine housings. It was being told as a bit of 'voodoo' and didn't have merit. I gave my perspective on things and offered to conduct a test to prove who what right or wrong once and for all. AGP Turbo in Arizona donated three manifolds and turbine housings for this test, MA Performance in Minnesota provided the dyno, and I (Form and Function Performance) supplied the porting and ceramic coatings. This test was done in one day (~11hrs) on the same dyno, with no changes other than the manifolds and turbine housings. The first one was 'stock' as it would come from AGP, the second was ported, and the last was ported and ceramic coated. The host car was blue so we decided to go with your TurboX blue tomatch. Both the inside of the runners and turbine housing were coated along with the exterior of both. The results showed improvements of ~+17wtq and ~+11whp over the unmodified version by adding porting, and another ~7wtq and ~5whp adding the coatings to the port work. Needless to say the testing did in fact show that there was merit to both port work and the coatings and was also in line with your claims of ~2-6% in turbo applications. More information about this test can be found publicly here: http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f313/dyno-testing-agp-kits-431461/ (look at the first few posts then jump to 106-110 for the data, [pg 8 of the web site]) or you can contact me directly should you have any Q's.
