Welcome to Techlines... January 2003MPMCWe just returned from the MPMC conference. This is a meeting between Performance manufacturers and the Editors from various Enthusiasts and Trade magazines. The end result for us will be many more stories on coatings. We tried to focus our presentations on the less used coatings, such as the TLTD. The ability of TLTD to rapidly transfer heat has not been fully utilized in the Performance Industry. Recognition of the benefits will help expand demand for this product. AETC ConferencePart of the expanded interest in coatings comes about as a result of the latest AETC conference held in Colorado Springs, CO and hosted by Superflow and Comp Cams. Along with our presentation, coatings received additional exposure when Joe Sherman of Joe Sherman Racing Engines discussed his winning engine. Popular Hot Rodding magazine held their Engine Master contest. The goal was to make the highest H.P. with a small block engine at a maximum of 6500 RPM. Joe Sherman built the winning engine. When discussing the components that made up his combination, one area that he credits with a significant amount of H.P. gain was Coatings. He specifically referred to about a 10 H.P. gain on the box stock headers he used, that were coated. His additional remarks on the internal engine components we extremely positive. Watch for more information in the Popular Hot Rodding issue with the story on the contest. Virtually every engine entered used coatings. I hope to be posting the slides from the presentation that was made at the conference on our web site shortly. This will be of some interest as they cover a little data about the company but a lot of detail on how coatings work, with some diagrams and illustrations. Mondello Technical SchoolJoe Mondello was one of the attendees at the AETC conference and provided some additional information on his experience with Tech Line Coatings. Joe has used our coatings for many years and is very familiar with the products and promotes them in his school. His comments were very positive. In referring to the Olds engine that we coated many years ago, he stated he found the coatings worth 40 H.P. In addition he commented on his experience with our coatings on his aluminum rods. He has over 1100 runs on the rods. We coated his rods with TLTD on the entire rod, then they were top coated on the sides of the big end with TLML. DISTILLED WATERWhen thinning ANY water based coating ALWAYS use DISTILLED WATER. The use of tap or spring water can damage the coating. In many instances non-distilled water may be alkaline and this will damage the resin. WATER BASED COATINGSKeep ALL water based coatings in a warm room. DO NOT allow to freeze.
If the product gets frozen it is sometimes possible to restore the
mixture. Call for details if your material has been frozen
