Welcome to Techlines... December 2003

Tech Line Trouble Shooting Guide

On our web site is a brief guide to typical problems encountered in the application of coatings. Their causes are outlines and the problems associated with them identified. In most cases a simple alteration in a procedure will eliminate the problem. In some case the environment may need to be considered and adjustments made to either spray techniques, thinning or to the environment it self. It can be found under Tech Articles on the main left navigation menu.

From Adam of ACR Engines

Adam had his intake coated with our Thermal Barrier and Thermal Dispersant products in an effort to reduce the intake charge temperature, for more power. He measured a 10 H.P. Increase with the coatings.

Carburetor Porosity

John C. who is employed by a major Coatings manufacturer, which shall remain un named, was looking for a coating to seal the porosity in his Carter Aluminum bodied 4 barrel Carb (AFB). He used our TLHB on the inside and our CLR on the exterior to maintain a stock appearance. End of porosity. No effect on the coatings from the fuel. John took the time to call us with his results and I am sure we all appreciate it.

10 years of CBC2 B.

Spears Auto Care Prestonsburg, KY

One of our long time customers, Brian Spears stopped by to see us at the PRI Trade Show and wanted to let us know how our Metallic Ceramic Coating CBC2, that was applied to his pistons, was holding up. After 10 years of use and no recoating, the coating was still intact and looking good.

From Mark at Turbo Tune Greensboro, NC

Mark tells us that the 2003 winner of the Formula Mazda Series, Doug Peterson has been running our Ultra X lubricant in his transaxle for the second year. The tranny shifts easier and his Hewland derived Transmission is lasting longer than it was before switching to Ultra X.

GRAY ICE™

Gray Ice Header Coating has been one of those well kept secrets. It is similar to our Black Satin. Gray Ice has a cast gray metallic sheen, and is especially good looking in sun light where the metallic appearance is enhanced. A photo of Gray Ice will be appearing on our web site shortly, with its description. Gray Ice is not a new coating. However, only a few shops over the years have taken advantage of its unique appearance. Those shops that have been using it see a good growth in sales. It is a quality product that provides an attractive and "different" finish.

2003

As in the past 2003 proved to be a good year for Tech Line Coatings and its customers. While we heard of some areas that experienced sporadic drops in activity, the market as a whole continues to grow. Tech Line showed a better than expected growth in sales this year exceeding 2002 sales and expects to do even better in 2004. The market keeps growing and appears to have significant room for growth ahead.
