Powdr20 ™

Powdr20TM has been developed using a proprietary technology, Liqui-Powdr™. This technology gives Tech Line the ability to disperse Powder Coating powders, in water.

New Product Information:

How to Apply Powdr20TM to plastic

How to Apply Powdr20TM to wood

With the availability of Liqui-Powdr™ and Powdr 2 OTM products, powder coating plastic and wood is not only possible but has advantages over simple painting as well. These documents are designed to help you in deciding if this process is an option for your parts, and how to prepare and coat various types of plastic and wood parts.

Powdr20TM Trouble Shooting

Now any company can take advantage of the wide variety of colors and special effects available through the Powder Coating Industry, WITHOUT the costly

equipment. Simply spray as is normal with any paint. Initial prep is simple, equipment needed to apply is minimal, and an airbrush works just fine. Bake temperatures will range from 300°F to 450°F, depending on the particular powder used. For companies already equipped to apply powders, Powdr20TM will expand their capabilities.

Powdr20TM offers a variety of advantage. Consider just a few:VE COA

  • Many substrates cannot be coated with Powder as they are non metallic. The only way to apply Powder to these substrates is to heat them up, and this is not very satisfactory.

  • In addition the proprietary technology gives the dry coating a good adhesive grip on the substrate so that it cannot be dislodged as easily as traditional powders.
  • In many cases traditional powders have difficulty in being applied to complex surfaces, particularly where the “cage” effect draws the Powder away from a depression or deeper portion of a part. Powdr20TM by it’s nature does not need electrostatic application, though it can be sprayed through properly designed electrostatic equipment. The “weight” of the water molecule allows the coating to be evenly and completely carried into areas that a powder cannot reach or where an unsatisfactory buildup of Powder occurs in the attempt to get the powder to reach these difficult areas.
  • Special coatings effects are now possible that were difficult or impossible with Powder alone. As an example differing thicknesses can easily be laid down to create fades.
  • Powdr20TM combines the advantages of powder with environmentally friendly water based technology.
  • Powdr20TM can also be used as a touchup material for a previously Powder Coated part where a blemish exists on a cured part. Powdr20TMis viscous enough prior to agitation that it may be applied as a small drop to a specific area dried and baked. This avoids the problems normally associated with fixing areas that were either not coated or damaged in handling and the problem was not noticed until after the coating was cured.

This new technology opens up the door for a wider use of Powder by both fully equipped Powder Coatings shops as well as those shops who do not wish to invest in the equipment, or where space considerations do not allow for additional equipment beyond existing wet spray equipment. Powdr20TM will be made available in both Quart and Gallon containers.

Along with standard color dispersions, Tech Line will do custom blends. Any company may send a powder that they wish to have dispersed, and we will disperse it and return the finished material and any remaining powder. We will include a sample plate showing the finished coating.

In addition Tech Line will be blending special effect pigments into the system that typically are not available to Powder Coaters at all. This will expand the colors and effects that can be offered to potential customers by shops using Powdr20TM

Powdr20TM will be available starting in March. Initially we will start with basic colors, clear and a few special effect blends. Available in 8 oz, quart and gallon containers.
